The Autumn Makeup Switch Up

Now that I'm out of the whole beauty blogging world that I used to be so involved with, I don't tend to switch up my makeup so frequently. I mostly stick to my real favourites apart from in foundation and mascara where I can't help trying the next best thing. However, autumn is a time where I really do switch up my makeup to reflect the change in seasons...not in your most typical way, I don't instantly reach for a bright berry lip and winged liner {I will unfortunately never suit either}, but I tend to go for a heavier base and explore a little more with my eyeshadow, change my blush to suit the change in the weather, etc. So today I thought I'd throw it back to the beauty blogger days and let you know which pieces I've dragged out from the depths of my makeup storage for the new season...

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

This one is an oldie but a goodie. When it first came out it was all anybody could talk about, but in recent years it seems that everyone {myself included} has kind of forgotten about it. Probably down to there being so much choice out there now, and we're all constantly looking for the next best thing, but the news of the Naked Cherry being launched got me thinking about where I'd hid this little gem. It took me a minute to find it, but when I did I remembered why I loved it so much - the colours, whilst a little out of my comfort zone, work so well for this time of year, and the neutral tones really do work for so many different skin tones and eye shapes.

Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation

This one is a new one for me, but after using it for a few weeks now, I'm so glad I added it to my collection. It has a natural, almost dewy finish, and the formula manages to glide over all pores, filling them in and perfecting the skin. Although it has more of a dewy finish, and my skin gets quite oily, I find that this lasts through most of the day now that the weather has dropped a few degrees. It's now a staple in my everyday makeup bag.

NARs Velvet Lip Glide in 'Unlaced'

This may seem like an odd one to include in an autumn beauty post, as it's not a dark or berry lip, but neither of those shades suit me so I tend to go for a pinky nude all year round. The difference is that in winter I lean more towards a liquid, more matte lip over the glossy balms of summer. This shade by NARs caught my eyes instantly as its that perfect combination of pink and nude, and the formula is great if you're not the biggest fan of ultra matte liquid lips like myself as its not drying or 'crusty' feeling.

MAC Mineralize Blush in 'Sweet Enough'

Again, this isn't a new product {I don't think any of the products mentioned are} but it's one I had kind of forgotten about over Summer. I'm a big fan of MAC blushes and have been for years, it's pretty much the only brand I use on my cheeks, but the mineralize collection always scared me slightly as I thought I'd end up with glowing cheeks. Luckily for me, Sweet Enough gives me more of a 'lit from within' glow which is noticeable but subtle at the same time...just what I was looking for, and the pinky nude colour compliments my go-to eye and lip looks perfectly.

  1. That foundation sounds absolutely beautiful! I could never get Naked 3 to look good on me and ended up giving it away - Naked Cherry looks very pretty though! xx
